The Mini Car Club of Tasmania is an incorporated body that exists to keep the Mini dream alive in Tasmania. We've been in operation since 1964, just three years after the Mini first appeared in Australia. Our members love to talk Minis, drive their Minis, look at other Minis, race and do just about anything it's legal to do in a Mini! Most of us own Minis (somewhere between one and forty of the beasts), the others just wish they did. We don't care if your car is pristine or 'earthy', straight off the MINI Garage showroom or in boxes in the shed, or maybe just a gleam in your eye - we are here for you!
The Club meets at Shannons, 337 Argyle Street, Hobart, on the first Thursday of the month (except January) at about 8pm. We generally talk Minis, arrange functions, watch movies and have a drink to celebrate Mini-ing. The committee meets on the third Thursday, same time and place, to look after the running of the Club and do what's needed to serve the needs of the members.
The Club organises social runs and events, race meetings (we're affiliated with CAMS), a newsletter, and does whatever it feels is worthwhile to support its members. Our social events are growing in popularity, as we all love an opportunity to zip around the roads of Tasmania in a line of wonderful Minis, which seem to be purpose-built for our twisty roads.
As we are shareholders of Motorsports Tasmania, our members can hire Symmons Plains or Baskerville racetrack for just $55 per day for private use - a substantial discount! We can even arrange VC (Club Event) registration for member vehicles, another very good saving.
